It is indeed ironic that Bonnie Dumanis, San Diego’s District Attorney and a member of the Log Cabin Republican Club, in her vicious pursuit of medical marijuana users, is at odds with Abraham Lincoln who refused to approve a proposed prohibition on cannabis use. Every American president until the 1930’s used medical marijuana and according to Morey Amsterdam and Eddie Gordon, close friends of John F. Kennedy, who used cannabis for his back pain, he was going to legalize it during his second term.

A seemingly dysfunctional San Diego City Council voted 7 to 1 on January 5, to stall many more months deciding the mere basics of regulating medical marijuana dispensaries by rejecting the modest recommendations of its own task force.

The District Attorney's Office's budget has risen significantly while other public agencies are reorganizing and slashing costs.

The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office proudly notes that in 2008 and 2009 it received prestigious Workplace Excellence awards as one of San Diego’s most outstanding places to work.

It appears things have improved significantly for employees since former District Attorney Paul Pfingst left office at the end of 2002.

At the Deputy District Attorneys Association’s annual board meeting in January, top prosecutor Bonnie Dumanis made a brazen request: Don’t endorse in the 2010 sheriff’s race.

Stay neutral, she urged, because our office has regular dealings with the sheriff.

In a clear sign that District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis has lost the support of cops and deputies, an umbrella group for 22 San Diego County law enforcement unions overwhelmingly rejected her request for an endorsement.
